Cannabis tincture is a good option for those who want to benefit from the medicinal properties of this plant without having to smoke and damage their respiratory system.
This product, like oil, has been with us for centuries and has been used in different cultures, in fact, these drops were sold in pharmacies until their use was demonized and the plant was outlawed.
Cannabis tincture uses
Cannabis is known for having multiple benefits for our health that we have already talked about before. With the use of cannabis tincture we can take advantage of its medicinal qualities to alleviate various pathologies. We can use it by ingesting its drops or in topical application.
Some of its therapeutic uses are:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Lack of appetite
- Muscle spasms
- Skin bites
If we want the effect to be faster we can apply a few drops of cannabis tincture under the tongue, just as it is done with CBD oil. When your cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc.) reach the bloodstream earlier, we will notice its effects soon.
Another way to take the tinctures is by adding them to foods or drinks such as coffee or tea, and in this way we will hide the flavor that is not usually very pleasant.
If we want to use it topically we should only apply it to clean and dry skin as we do with CBD oil. In this way our epidermis will absorb the dye and we can treat various skin problems.
How to make your own cannabis tincture?
There are several methods to get your own tincture, but we have decided to explain the easiest way, with ingredients that will not cost you to get.
To make this medicinal cannabis tincture we just need some materials and get to work. Of course, we must wait a while to use it.
The products that we are going to use are:
- 50 grams of buds.
- A bottle of some high-grade alcohol like whiskey, Brandy, rum, vodka, herbal liqueur, or gin.
- A container with a cap to store the liquid.
Once you have all the materials you just have to put the buds in the container and pour the alcohol bottle until it completely covers the buds. It is convenient that once capped, shake the container so that the alcohol penetrates into the buds. Then it is put away from the light, in a dry and cool place. If you want you can put a date label to know when you have done it.
You should leave it to rest, but it is recommended that you shake the container a few times a week. After 4 weeks you can see how the liquid has changed color, since the vegetable matter has dissolved in the alcohol.
After this time it is time to open the container so that the alcohol evaporates, it must be left open for a week. Next, the liquid is filtered with a cloth strainer that retains all the vegetable remains.
The filtered liquid is stored again in a bottle or in a dropper, to make administration easier.
As we always advise, before using cannabis tinctures, it is best to consult with a healthcare professional. The specialist will indicate if you can consume medicinal cannabis without any risk and if its cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc.) are adequate. Anyway, you always have to start with a very low dosage of tinctures and increase as we check how we feel. We must remember that when we ingest cannabis, the effects, although they are stronger, take time to notice, this happens with any oil we take.
The medicinal cannabis tincture will help us to have a better quality of life thanks to its healing power used for hundreds of years. Therapeutic cannabis thanks to its content in cannabinoids such as THC and CBD is used as a drug in many countries.
